Breve Resumo
|
The
course gives an introduction to the basic statistical methods and
explains the basics of modern probability and statistics that are
needed for statistical model building and the interpretation of
empirical studies. Exercise data sets are analysed in the program
package R.
Learning
Goals:
- Understand the basic inference paradigm in statistics: Data,
estimation and testing
Develop a basic understanding for exploratory data analysis,
probabilities and distributions.
- Learn how to construct confidence intervals and hypothesis tests for
means, proportions and variances.
- How to store and collect univariate and multivariate data from
surveys or experiments to make analyses.
- Explain how to use statistical software to organize, summarize,
and display data effectively.
- Learn how to communicate the results of basic statistical analyses.
- Estimate a simple regression line in a scattergram.
- Test the difference of means between several groups of measurement.
- Test the independence of categorical variables in a two-way table.
