Vitor Manuel Martins de Matos's Annual Report
Year:
Brief description of the research activities:
I studied the volume dependence on fluid composition arising in porous media flow. These models lead to a class of conservations laws with a singular accumulation derivative and regular transport derivative; therefore, the characteristic analysis depend on a generalized eigenvalue problem. I found general expressions for eigenvalues, left and right eigenvectors, Hugoniot curve, Coincidence curve and Inflection curve; I also characterize a contact curve which plays an important rule on the solution construction.
Join with Dan Marchesin we apply this theory to a flow of three components in two phases.
Panters Rodriguez-Bermudez, Diego S. Monteiro da Silva and myself studied a gravitational model for a vertical flow with a Delta-Dirac injection.
