All you wanted to know about theoretical neuroscience but were too afraid to ask...

Room 0.27, Departamento de Matemática Aplicada, FCUP
Friday, 21 November, 2008 - 15:30

*** Integrated in the area of Signal Processing and Data Analysis

Abstract: My goal for this seminar is, first of all, to present
myself to the group and, following the provocative title, to present
my area of research: theoretical neuroscience. Instead of dedicating
the seminar to a single specific problem, I decided that it would be
more interesting - at this stage - to discuss some of theoretical
neuroscience' methodologies/techniques and, most importantly, to
informally present some of the problems I am presently working on. My
hope is that this may catalyze interesting discussions and
collaborations within our group.
I will informally address nociceptive (pain) information processing in
the spinal cord, information storage in neural networks, network
architecture inference, and simulation environments in computational
neuroscience.
