Brief description of the research activities:
Work was developed continuing the main research lines,
- Heart rate variability analysis: longterm/ non stationary ARFIMAGARCH and linear/nonlinear approaches, including the co-mentoring of 2 MSc Students of the Master on Mathematical Engineering of FCUP, in a extracurricular internship PEEC program at FCUP.
-Structural Breaks in Heart Rate Variabity Time Series, mentoring of the MSc Work of the Erasmus Student Monica Introini, from Politecnico de Milano, Italy (ongoing). Part of the work was presented as a student poster at the 37th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC’15), and also at the University of Porto Conference, IJUP2015.
- Monitoring and data analysis in intensive care. Case studies of cardiovascular activity ( in the framework of two ongoing PhDs of the students António Sousa and Marta João Silva) and cerebral reactivity (heart rate variability study during plateau waves of Intracranial Pressure, in colaboration Dr. Celeste Dias, Centro Hospital S. João -Porto and FMUP). Partial results were presented, respectively, at the International IEEE Conference Computers in Cardiology, CINC2015 (Nice) and at EMBC 2015 (Milan), and published in the correspondent indexed Proceedings.
- Development and implementation of a strategy for noninvasive Fetal Electrocardiograms quality assessment, as coadviser of the CMUP 3 months BI grant of Carla Marisa Martins Oliveira, June - August 2015,
- Bayesian hierarchical robust modeling to detect and identify exonic CNVs, in colaboration Dr. José Luis Costa from the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto (Ipatimup/I3S), as co-advisors of the MSc Thesis of Rui Carlos Pinto Borges (Finished, December 2015).
