Ana Paula Rocha's Annual Report

Ana Paula Rocha's Annual Report

Year:

2017

Brief description of the research activities:

Work was developed continuing the main research lines,

Heart Rate Variability analysis: longterm/ non stationary ARFIMAGARCH nonlinear approaches. Partial results were published as the  invited chapter, ARFIMA-GARCH Modeling of HRV:Clinical Application in Acute Brain Injury,  in Complexity and Nonlinearity in Cardiovascular Signals, Springer International Publishing AG2017.

Structural Breaks in Heart Rate Variabity Time Series, included the  mentoring of a CMUP grant student
Margarida Almeida Pereira, FCUP, MSc in Engineering Mathematics. Partial results were presented as oral communication, Change-points in heart rate variability: application in critical care patients (10th International Conference of the ERCIM Working Group on Computational and Methodological Statisctics; London, 16-18 December 2017, CFE-CMStatistics 2017 Book of Abstracts )

Monitoring and data analysis in intensive care. Case studies of acute brain lesion.

Study of the integration of Hear Rate Variability analysis with  multimodal brain monitoring to help clinicians to interpret or predict acute cerebral phenomena. In particular to analyse the relation between autonomic nervous system dysfunction after acute brain lesion and the interplay between cerebral and systhemic (renal) autoregulation. Collaboration with Neurocritical intensive care unit of Centro Hospital S. João (Porto) in a general multimodal database of critically ill adult patients, including several acute cerebral phenomenon in traumatic brainn lesion (as intracraneal hypertension, decompressive craniectomy)  and brain death.

Partial results were presented in National Conferences,  IJUP 2017 and  XXIII Congresso da Sociedade Portuguesa de Estatística
