Emanuele Rodaro's Annual Report
Year:
2015
Brief description of the research activities:
We have proved that, contrary to the group case, the word problem for HNN-extension of inverse semigroups may be undecidable even if we assume nice conditions on the original semigroups. In the context of automaton semi(groups) we have introduced some geometrical techniques to help the study of these groups: such techniques are particularly useful in the study of the dynamics of these groups in the boundary. Finally, we start a new approach to Cerny's conjecture using rings theoretic methods, in particular the usage of the Wedderburn-Artin theory has allowed us to introduce the class of semisimple synchronzing automata, and we have solve Cerny's conjecture for the subclass of strongly semisimple automata.
