Marco Martins Afonso's Annual Report for 2017
Year:
Brief description of the research activities:
My research at CMUP, in collaboration with S. Gama, is focused on fluid mechanics, statistical\theoretical physics and turbulent\nonlinear\chaotic dynamics. I presented my work in one invited seminar at CMUC (Coimbra) and in three international conferences, namely “Flowing Matter COST Action MP1305” (FEUP, 23-27\1), “EuroMech ETC16” (Stockholm-Sweden, 21-24\8) and “Workshop on Orthogonal Polynomials and Applications” (FCUP, 5\9, as an invited speaker). I published one research article in “Comptes Rendus Mécanique”, and submitted another one in “Physical Review Fluids”. I continued my international collaboration with colleagues from Italy (A. Mazzino, University of Genova), France (D. Vincenzi, Univeersity of Nice) and Finland (P. Muratore-Ginanneschi, University of Helsinki). This research was done first under my two-year post-doctoral fellowship from FCUP and FCT (UID/MAT/00144/2013, until November), and then under a new post-doc scholarship – from December - in the project STRIDE: “Smart Cyberphysical, Mathematical, Computation and Power Engineering Research for Disruptive Innovation in Production, Mobility, Health, and Ocean Systems and Technologies”, NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000033, funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through North Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020).
