Pedro V. Silva's Annual Report

Pedro V. Silva's Annual Report

Year:

2016

Brief description of the research activities:

(a) Characterization of Turing machines and their behaviour using resets and semaphore codes (with John Rhodes and Anne Schilling).
(b) Study of the inverse subsemigroup and subsemigroup complexes of Brandt semigroups; study of the simplicial complexes defined by Dowling lattices and Rhodes lattices (with Stuart Margolis and John Rhodes).
(c) Characterization of periodic locally Green finite varieties of semigroups (with Filipa Almeida and Mikhail Volkov).
(d) Closure of a group language under partial commutation: reduction to Cayley graphs of finite groups and extension of the known results in terms of both languages and finite groups (with Giovanna Guaiana).
