Rute Alexandra Borges de Almeida's Annual Report

Year:

2017

Brief description of the research activities:

During 2017 my main research activity was developed as grantee of the project NanoSTIMA–Macro-to-Nano Human Sensing: Towards Integrated Multimodal Health Monitoring and Analytics (NORTE-01-0145-FEDER-000016, at CINTESIS – Centro de Investigação em Tecnologias e Serviços de Saúde, FMUP.

In spite of the different circunstances, my colaboration with FCUP and CMUP still effective. In particular, it was important for the initial development of the model for asthma hospital admissions forecasting. The results were presented and published in R  Almeida, AC Teodoro, H  Gonçalves, A  Freitas, A Sa-Sousa, C Jácome and JA Fonseca, "Forecasting Asthma Hospital Admissions from Remotely Sensed Environmental Data", in Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Geographical Information Systems Theory, Applications and Management - Volume 1: GISTAM, 124-130, 2017, Porto, Portugal.

As result of the work with GEMAC, in 2017 have been published the work RZ Gomes, M Vasconcelos, IM Guerra, R Almeida, A Felino, "Implant Stability in the Posterior Maxilla: A Controlled Clinical Trial2, BioMed Research International, vol. 2017, Article ID 6825213, 11 pages, 2017. doi:10.1155/2017/6825213. ISRCTN study registry: http://www.isrctn.com/ISRCTN33469250. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/...
I have been responsible by the study design and statistical data analysis and was also involved in the results interpretation.

The orientation of the PhD of Maikel Noriega in collaboration with Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, have been concluded with sucess, by 7th July 2017, with the thesis presention "Delineación wavelet-multiderivación de ECG y su relación con la respiración ".

The collaboration with Neurocritical intensive care unit of Centro Hospital S. João (Porto) have allowed to produce a book chapter R Almeida, C Dias, ME SIlva, AR ROcha,  "ARFIMA-GARCH Modeling of HRV: Clinical Application in Acute Brain Injury, pp 451:68 in Complexity and Nonlinearity in Cardiovascular Signals, editors R Barbieri, EP Scilingo, V Gaetano, Springer International Publishing. Doi: 10.1007/978-3-319-58709-7_17. "
