Brief description of the research activities:
My research interests switched a little from a core activity around classrom practices of mathematics teachers (especially related to teacher-students communication) towards a greater emphasis on the didactical knowlege of teachers regarding statistics and towards starting to develop fundamental knowledge about mathematicsl trails and related conceptis (problem solving, problem posing, informal learning environments). In this context, I started working with a colleague from ESE-IPVC (Viana do Castelo) and supervised a pos-doc student from Brazil. Thought still related to teachers' practices, I started looking at the teaching of combinatorics, in close relationship to inquiry-based teaching and tis effects on students' development of conceptual understanding.
