Ana Paula Rocha's Annual Report 2013
Year:
Brief description of the research activities:
Mainly on Cardiovascular signals analysis and risk stratification /Cerebrovascular reactivity signals analysis:
- Development and validation of tools for biomedical signal processing. Enhancement of electrocardiogram (ECG) delineation methods, consolidation of modules in the MATLAB BioSigBrowser toolbox (with Univ. Zaragoza, Spain).
- Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis. Long-term/non stationary analysis, ARFIMA-GARCH approach; linear non-linear analysis of HRV . Results were reported at 4 papers and 3 comunications (international Conference on Computing in Cardiology,CINC2013 and national conference of Sociedade Portuguesa de Estatística 2013).
- Exploration and characterization of the beat-to-beat variability of heart rate and cardiac repolarization in pediatric patients, during coma and brain death .
- Extension of the research on monitoring and data analysis in intensive care to adult neurocritical care. Design of research lines for the study of the relation between intracranial pressure and systemic parameters such as heart rate, arterial blood pressure and oxygenation. Paper submission and Master dissertation mentoring in Mathematical Engineering, "Efeito da Osmeoterapia sobre a pressão intracraniana, fluxo sanguíneo cerebral e oxigenação: Estudo por modelos lineares mistos". November, 2013.
- Signal Processing in Obstetrics. A new wavelet based methodology was defined for fetal QRS location on abdominal maternal recordings, by adapting the automatic detection and delineation strategy for electrocardiograms. Validation on the framework of Noninvasive Fetal ECG: the PhysioNet/Computing in Cardiology Challenge 2013. Results presented at CINC2013.
