Routh theorem on existence and stability of steady motions~for the systems subjected to unilateral constraints and its applications to space tethered systems

Resumo:

The known Routh theorem on existence and stability of steady motions for mechanical systems is proved within the assumption that the constraint subjected to the system is unilateral. This method is applied to various problems
in dynamics of space tethered systems such as

- Synge-Blitzer's problem on realtive equilibria of an orbital pendulum,
- the problem on existence and stability of an orbiting tethered gyrostat,
- the problem of the orbiting "monkey's bridge",
- the problem on existence and stability of lunar elevators.
