Some perturbed sequences of order one of the Chebyshev polynomials of second kind

Speaker:

Pascal MARONI CNRS - Centre National de Recherche Scientifique Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions Université Pierre Marie Curie, Paris, France

Date:

Friday, 28 June, 2013 - 13:30

Venue:

Room FC1-M031 (Maths Building)

We deal with a family of orthogonal polynomials as perturbed of Chebyshev polynomials of second kind. The second-order differential equation satisfied by any polynomial is obtained and the integral representation of the corresponding canonical form is provided.

Let $u$ be a form and the corresponding Hankel determinants $\Delta_n(u)$ ; suppose that there exists $r\in\mathbb{N}$ such that $\Delta_n(u)\neq 0$ for $0\leq n\leq r$ and

The variational approach to nonlinear boundary value problems

Speaker:

Nicolas Papageorgiou National Tecnical University of Athens, Athens, Greece

Date:

Wednesday, 2 May, 2007 - 10:30

Venue:

sala 0.29

We survey some of the variational techniques used in the study of nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems. We start with a discussion about the spectrum of the Dirichlet p-Laplacian. Then we present some basic abstract minimax principles on the existence and the multiplicity of critical points...

Factorization of almost periodic matrix functions and its applications.

Speaker:

Ilia Spitkovski (College of William & Mary Williamsburg, USA)

Date:

Thursday, 15 December, 2005 - 14:00

Venue:

sala 0.06

Resumo: We will give an overview of the current state of the factorization problem in the case when the matrix function involved is almost periodic (in Bohr sense). Existence of factorization will be discussed along with algorithms of its actual construction. Applications include (but are not...

Multivalent functions and divided differences

Speaker:

E.G. Kirjatzkii (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Vilnius, Lithuania)

Date:

Wednesday, 2 November, 2005 - 14:00

Venue:

sala 1.04

Structural properties of new classes of analytic functions are described in terms of divided differences. The results are applied to the interpolation and approximation theory, theory of univalent and multivalent functions, and the Chebyshev systems theory .
